Dear James Van Praagh:
As you know, the James Randi Educational Foundation has a long-standing challenge to self-proclaimed psychics, paranormalists, and mediums such as yourself: if you can demonstrate real psychic abilities under fair, mutually-agreed-upon conditions that prevent cheating, we will give $1 million USD to you or any spiritualist group or charity you wish.

Here is a recap of the stories that appeared over the last month at Science-Based Medicine, a multi-author skeptical blog that separates the science from the woo in medicine.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s muddled draft policy on “non-allopathic” medicine (David Gorski) http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/cpsos-muddled-draft-policy-on-non-allopathic-medicine/ CPSO is working on an update of their policy on nonconventional medical therapies. The draft is disturbing for its wishy-washy approach to the scientific basis of medicine, its pro-CAM bias, and its manipulative use of language such as the derogatory term “allopathy.”

Michael Shermer, as we all know, has contributed over and over again to our understanding of the real world, through Skeptic Magazine, in his many printed books, via the Internet, and his regular column in Scientific American Magazine. With this brief note I alert our readers to his latest contribution, in answer to the tiresome conspiracy nuts who labor mightily to convince the world that the 9/11 tragedy wasn’t caused by religious fanatics trying to get to Paradise by a short cut. The article by Chris Mohr -- though I’ll easily admit that the engineering terminology is well beyond me -- is a gem that you should preserve and share…
Thank you once more, Michael and Chris.
