For a shocking look at the damage done by 21st-century charlatans who use pseudoscience to defraud the public, watch this BBC Newsnight segment on fake bomb detectors being marketed to governments targeted by terrorism.
According to the BBC, UK military personnel and civil servants have helped promote the same sham "bomb detectors" that have been exposed over and over by the JREF and other organizations, and even been banned for sale by the UK government. The "detectors"—just a radio antenna connected by a hinge to a plastic handle—are cobbled together for less than $20 and have been sold for tens of thousands under the names ADE 651, Quadro Tracker, M.O.L.E., HEDD1, Sniffex (Plus), Alpha 6, PSD-22, and H3Tec.

I’m Certain I Will Be Seeing “The Rite.”
I haven’t yet seen the new movie, “The Rite,” starring Anthony Hopkins, but I’m looking forward to it, based on the look and feel of the trailer, the fact that the director seems to have a taste for horror, and that Anthony Hopkins is one of our very finest working film actors. I recognize that such stories – a thriller about exorcisms – often conclude by upholding the status quo and embracing a religious point of view in some way. Perhaps I’ll come back to this space with a review once I see it.

In Bem’s study, students were placed in front of a monitor whose screen was divided in half. An image would be shown on one half of the screen, and the subjects had to guess whether it would show up on the left or right half. According to Bem, the students correctly guessed where the image would be posted 53% of the time.
