For a shocking look at the damage done by 21st-century charlatans who use pseudoscience to defraud the public, watch this BBC Newsnight segment on fake bomb detectors being marketed to governments targeted by terrorism.

According to the BBC, UK military personnel and civil servants have helped promote the same sham "bomb detectors" that have been exposed over and over by the JREF and other organizations, and even been banned for sale by the UK government. The "detectors"—just a radio antenna connected by a hinge to a plastic handle—are cobbled together for less than $20 and have been sold for tens of thousands under the names ADE 651, Quadro Tracker, M.O.L.E., HEDD1, Sniffex (Plus), Alpha 6, PSD-22, and H3Tec.
