It is with great regret that we note the passing last Monday – after a long and difficult illness – of geophysicist and prominent member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Professor Attila Mesko. He was a scholar who received many awards, and will be greatly missed by the scientific community.
Professor Mesko was the 3rd president of Tényeket Tisztelök Társasága, the first skeptical organization in Hungary. The founding president of TTT was the famous neurobiologist János Szentágothai, with whom I spent many happy hours. TTT was founded in the spring of 1992, shortly following my first visit to Hungary.
