The Isaac Asimov Library at the James Randi Educational Foundation has many thousands of books on the occult, supernatural and paranormal. It also has a time lapse camera, which has recorded something previously found only in those volumes.

Richard Wiseman is a psychology professor at Hertfordshire (UK) University and a dear friend of the JREF. He's also fascinated by the little quirks and weird things that happen in everyday life, and has made it his goal to study them. One such study, featured in the newspaper The Daily Mail (link: dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1054671), was to see how learning -- and performing -- magic tricks affected children's ability to learn in school.

As reported in the New Zealand Herald, September 5, 2008, (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/10530704) police in Wellington have called in two TV psychics from the show Sensing Murder. Deb Webber and Kelvin Cruickshank have been asked to help provide “any little piece of information” to help them solve the disappearance of physiotherapist who went missing while walking in Rimutaka Forest Park.

The James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) is pleased to announce the winners of the academic scholarships for 2008. Each year, a total of $10,000 is awarded to students who have shown extraordinary ability in using critical thinking in their field of study, who will actively pursue building critical thinking skills into their field, and who research the use of critical thinking in their field.
These qualities are judged by how closely they reflect the goals and values of the James Randi Educational Foundation: bringing critical thinking to the public, exposing pseudoscientific frauds, and promoting real science and rationality.
