Folks, I’m alarmed – and always have been alarmed – at the insidious science-bashing that presently threatens our way of life in the USA, and in fact, all over the world. I’m well aware of the fact that the JREF, as a 501(c)3 organization, cannot and does not endorse nor support any political party or opinion, but I recommend that you read this article from which I extract and offer you this small portion so that you may know in advance the nature of the message:

[It is] highly likely that the presidential candidate of one of our two major political parties will either be a man who believes what he wants to believe, even in the teeth of scientific evidence, or a man who pretends to believe whatever he thinks the party’s base wants him to believe.

If you choose to read this article, and would like to suggest for publication here another that presents a view counter to this, or even choose to write your own, I invite you to contact me personally via email and I will fairly consider that welcome possibility.

Such matters must not escape our attention. For the JREF, science education – particularly in regard to our younger population – is of paramount importance. We do everything we can to encourage everyone to be better informed in all possible respects, so that we are better prepared to differentiate between irrational attitudes about the Real World and a sensible approach to our duties as responsible citizens.

I highly value my vote, and I worked hard and long to earn the right to exercise it. I hope this doesn’t sound like I’ve mounted my soap box to scold, but I’m concerned, and I ask you to share that concern.

Thank you,

James Randi.
